Cross Country Competes at Manhattan Invitational

The Manhattan College Cross Country Invitational (MCXCI) was founded in 1973 by legendary Bishop Loughlin High School coach and former Manhattan College distance runner, Ed Bowes. On Saturday, October 14th, the Archmere cross country team traveled to the northwest part of New York City to race on the hallowed Van Cortlandt Park course. The invitational has quickly become one of the largest, single-day, high school cross country meets in the nation, with fields of over 10,000 runners.

The Archmere Varsity and JV finished third overall in their races, while the Varsity and JV boys finished 7th.

The JV team had three runners place in the Top 20 for the girls: Lyla Bell '25 placed 6th, Bella Doncel '24 placed 15th, and Raina Christenson '27 placed 16th.

In the Varsity girls race, three runners landed in the Top 20: Maddie Priest '24 placed 4th, Helen Socorso '25 placed 15th, and Alaina Thomas '27 placed 18th. 

Richie Angiullo '25 finished 8th in the Varsity boys race.
